For over 20 years, ESIP meetings have brought together the most innovative thinkers and leaders around Earth science data, thus forming a community dedicated to making Earth science data more discoverable, accessible and useful to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public. The theme of this year’s meeting is "Data for All People: From Generation to Use and Understanding."

Robert Rovetto

Concept engineer. Aspiring PhD student

Knowledge modeling. Formal ontology. Aspiring PhD student, actively applying & searching for study or work collaborations, globally. I develop conceptual models, ontologies, terminologies, and graph diagrams, with specialties in space, selected maritime topics, selected emergency first-response topics, highly abstract concepts; as well as ethics, methodology, governance; and philosophy.

A goal for the community is to support space data and space-related activities via R&D in knowledge-based, knowledge representation & AI approaches, and the humanities.
A personal goal to realize that community goal is to find sustainable formal support, mentorship, and ideally a PhD study option for my space knowledge modeling project (https://ontospace.wordpress.com). I also actively seek opportunities in water search & rescue, for which I also develop project concepts and serve in committees. I seek to continue my education through these activities, find formal collaborations, innovate and pursue these and other topics for the benefit of various disciplines. I've held roles as ontologist, consultant, and conceptual data modeler, with grant-writing experience.

I serve in ESIP Collaboration Areas since 2019, and presented twice. I'm active in semantic technology, ontology, maritime, spaceflight, and standards communities, where over the last few years I have given extensive volunteering and community service-to-discipline in committees within various national and international organizations. I have been serving out-of-pocket while searching/applying for PhD study and work opportunities in order to create a stable career path in these disciplines of interest, and in the hopes of finding a PhD or employer-support for my project https://purl.org/space-ontology. In the interim, I'm available for hire https://tinyurl.com/yas7trzy

Areas of interest: knowledge representation, conceptual/semantic modeling, ontology for space (astro, spaceflight, misc.), ethics of AI and data, philosophy, terminology, MBSE, water safety & rescue.
